Hi there

I started up my 2015 Nissan Rogue today and after about 5 kilometres I was stopped at a red light. I noticed the engine was rough and began to bog as if it was going to cut out. The engine light came on at this point.

Plugged in my obd2 reader and this code came up:

P0014- powertrain “b” camshaft position- timing over advanced or system performance (bank1)

Anyone else get this? I called the dealer and they said most likely cause is exhaust valve solenoid... where is this located in the 2015 rogue?

Also is it safe to drive with this code throwing?

Thanks a lot!

P0014 NISSAN Possible Causes
  • Dirty Oil
  • Faulty Exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve
  • Exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
  • Exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection
  • Faulty Crankshaft position sensor (POS)
  • Faulty Camshaft position sensor
Tech Notes
Since the exhaust valve timing control solenoid valve uses oil flow to control timing, dirty oil can cause the valve to stick open or closed. Before replacing the valve, change engine oil and filter and reset engine code.
Removal and installation / Valve timing control
Nissan Rogue Service Manual: Valve timing control

Seems like more than a diy, for me at least. Thanks! Looks like I’m taking it in,
