I have a 2004 nissan sentra with 1.8L 168 k miles. Car has MIL light with code P0011. I have check vvt solenoid, timing is dead center and i replaced oil and filter. Code still comes on. Car has rough idle and stalls. If i rev it it will stay running and will drive down the road fine just wont stay running when at idle. What can it be? I also check wiring harness.

Hi welcome to NICO Club!

Try using the FSM for this code. The EC chapter, page 151 has information on it. It starts out with using a consult-II tool, but you can do some self diagnoses with the procedures after that (page 153). Here's a link to the instructions. Please let us know if you have any questions. Looks like you'll be inspecting the crankshaft position sensor and a camshaft position sensor. Might just be debris to clean off of the camshaft signal plate... Good luck!

Most likely bad crankshaft or camshaft position sensor, same part on both, around $25 at Autozone.

I replaced the camshaft and cleaned of the crankshaft sensor. I inspected the cam shaft sprocket and camshaft plate and no luck.

The sensors are part of it. The wires that connect the sensors to the ECU are also part of it. Have you tested your wires?

Can you clarify what you wrote please? You say you replaced your cam shaft. Do you mean the sensor? You replaced both camshaft and crankshaft sensors? I'm just trying to be clear on what has been done. Thanks.

I replace both sensors and nothing changed. I have checked the wiring harness for everything and no shorts.

No shorting out is good. As long as you have continuity from the sensor plug all the way to the ECU pins and the ground wires, then those would be good as well.

If you continue through the EC chapter, there should be some non-code diagnoses stuff. It starts on page 715.
Check the chart on page 728. I wonder if you need to do the throttle pedal relearn (684) or the idle air relearn (685).

So, what caused this issue? Did it occur out of the blue? Have you had some repairs, maintenance or cleaning done prior to this idle problem?
