Does anyone know how long it takes to change out a front P/S rack. Rack bushings are shot and it has a lot of play on the highway. It's original and has 202000 on it. So it's time for it to go. One good thing it's not leaking yet.

If rack is not leaking, just replace the 2 rack mounts/bushings- should take only 30 minutes once on the lift.

You can buy the seals from Joe. Are you saying your arms are shot, or that you have enver adusted the rack? Color (white papaer towel test) and appearance of fluid? Maintenance history?

I've changed p/s fluid about four times in the last hundred thousand. the rack has never been adjusted. It has new inner and outer tie rod ends. the lower control arms are not that old and upper links to. but the upper king pins original. On the road the car pulls to left and then right too. the shop told me that the rack is worn out that why it pulls like then. I know the guy at the shop very well and he is known for doing a good allinements

Just replace the rack mounting bushings and SHOW the mechanic where he was wrong.

Yeah, I think Q45tech is correct. I went with the Z32 Polyurethane bushings from SPL with no increase in harshness.

But hey, I am not the most sensitive guy in the world....
