I'm sick of having to "hand over hand" steer when at auto x or out drifting...if i removed my P/S would the amount of turns of the wheel change? If not, how can it be changed?

might not know what im talking about here...but i dont think the amount of turns would change, that has to do with how many turns the pinion makes on the rack before it reaches the end, so that setup would have to be changed somehow. you could go for a smaller steering wheel, would still be the same amount of turns, but might be less stressfull...and more legroom.

Yeah i just found that out...had to go down to my mechanics shop and he informed me that the only real way to change it is with a aftermarket steering rack, close ratio one i believe he said...does anyone know if there's one available for S14's?

ive always wondered this myself, because the 240 does have a long steering wheel. would something like a rack out of an old camaro work (like an 89)? they only spin about 2 turns from end to end. wonder how much work that would involve.

mazda i hear makes good racks with quick ratios. if you know a machinist then get him to make a pinion gear, just add a few extra teeth.
