ok, where do i start, i have a 93 s13 hatch auto. my car drives fine for about 20 minutes and then turns into the excorcist. The rpm's drop to almost 0 when i come to a stop sign and sometimes while i'm just driving. One really crazy thing is that sometimes the car won't go into the next gear. The only thing that fixes it is i'll turn the car off and back on and it is fine. So far i've switched the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, water pump, spark plugs, ignition wires, distributor, cat. converter. Please, anyone have any ideas???????

Well in order to find out what is wrong go to a catholic church and see if the car burst into flames. If it does then yes it is possessed, if not then it is something mechanical or electrical.

Ground wires...they can be a real demonic temple.

I agree, sounds to me like a bad ground or loose ground on your MAFS or TPS. Start wiggling some wires under the hood. Even if its not acting up at the time, you'll find the loose wire by making it run bad if you wiggle the right one.

I should have been more clear...that wasn't a full fledged diagnosis, but more a statement that crazy things can happen because of inappropriately incomplete circuits. I am leaning towards an electrical problem, though (not that I know a whole lot). From your post it sounds like the shifting and idle problems come and go at the same time? The only correlation I can imagine between these areas is the electrical system. TPS I could see, but how would the MAFS affect the transmission? Unless it was like a domino effect? If that's the case (domino) then it could be a lot of things, couldn't it? Maybe check the two solenoids behind the head (the ones with vacuum lines coming out to the BPT and etc. One should be orange and one is black). They are crammed between the valve cover and firewall. Mine were pretty fouled. You can get a special cleaner for electrical components at Advance/Auto/Zone or some place similar.
