The problem is we don't know WHAT a failed secondary O2 does besides flag a code ...............how the ecu reacts to a signal that the cat has failed.
It {OBD2] just assumes the secondary has failed not the CAT or does it do something protective just in case?
The reason you replace O2 is to turn the light off so you DON"T MISS SOMETHING MAJOR.
There are 300 things that can turn the MIL light on some minor some very major and engine life threatening!
