Hi, I would like to know how can you measure whether the wheels will need spacers with the coil overs on the car. I got the OZ Superleggera 17x8 and an offset of 40mm. Im planning to get the TEIN RA coilovers and I would like to know if I will need spacers to clear them. Is there a way to measure and find out this information other then doing the suspension and finding out later that the wheels do not fit when you're trying to put them on.

Yeah, you'll probably need spacers.

SCC only used a 7.5" wide wheel and needed around a 38mm offset to clear the Jics, so since you are wider, I'd bet you'll need a 32-34mm offset. In the rear, you might be OK. I can't say for sure though on either...sorry. Withough the struts on the car, I don't see how you can measure.

Yes I can virtually guarantee that they will rub your RA's I have 17x7.5 +40et Konigs and they rub my Tein HE's unless I have a spacer (which I do) You will definitely need at least a 5mm spacer, but most likely you will need a 10mm spacer since those rims are 8" wide.

240_Keyy is probably right...for that width closer to 30mm would be best.

What about in the rear?

i always don't understand why it need more spaces to clear coilovers than shocks+springs combo. aren't coilovers much thinner?

also, i have a S14 and i plan to run 18x8 front and 18x9 rear with jic flt-a2. what offset and tire sizes should be used in order to clear all the things (both suspension and fenders)? I don't want to roll my fenders.

I was thinking 18X8 +25 with 225/40R18 front and 18x9 +35 with 245/35R18 rear. will this setting clear the fenders and coilovers?

Thanks.

its got to do with the body of the strut, not the spring perch, the body of a coilvoer is much wider than the bottom section of the strut.-chetmake the rear +30 or so and it should be fine, and try running a 255-35-18 on the rear. that wide of a rear wheel may stick out a bit though.

Also, the perches on coilovers tend to sit low too, leaving the spring (although thinner than oe springs, it's still thicker than stock lower shock bodies) next to the wheel.

dood, there has got to be a shop that will test fit something on your car!! I waste about half of every day test fitting crap on people's car to see if it fits, or if it's the look they want!!

find a good shop, it's the only way you will ever know if it fits or not.

avoid spacers at all costs! use these only as a last resort!

buy wheels/tires LAST!! always LAST!!
