Ive tried to find what this error actually is and all I can find are ways to clear it. I actually want to fix it, but nothing mentions what it is.

Anyone know where I can find this information?

I just happen to have that info on my Manufacturers CD.

On Board Diagnosis Logic

The closed loop control has the one trip detection logic.Malfunction is detected when the closed loop control function forright bank does not operate even when vehicle is driving in thespecified condition, the closed loop control function for left bankdoes not operate even when vehicle is driving in the specifiedcondition.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

The front heated oxygen sensor circuit is open or shorted.Front heated oxygen sensorFront heated oxygen sensor heater

ALSO

On Board Diagnosis Logic

To judge the malfunction of front heated oxygen sensor, this diagnosismeasures response time of front heated oxygen sensor signal. The time is compensated by engine operating (speed andload), fuel feedback control constant, and front heated oxygen sensortemperature index. Judgment is based on whether the compensatedtime (front heated oxygen sensor cycling time index) is inordinatelylong or not.Malfunction is detected when the response of the voltage signalfrom the sensor takes more than the specified time.POSSIBLE CAUSE

Harness or connectors (The sensor circuit is open or shorted.)Front heated oxygen sensorFront heated oxygen sensor heaterFuel pressureInjectorsIntake air leaksExhaust gas leaksPCV valveMass air flow sensor (Image is of an Xterra Sensor)

PS: Check your email and you should have the 3 diagnostic pages on this issue.

I don't have the data on your codes so I can;t tell you if they are the same or not.

Have you posted your query on the Sentra Forum?

What exactly does that error code mean?My "Check Engine" light is constantly on.

With any code stored in the ECU, it is letting you know that something is not right with the signal. It could be the sensor or something in the wiring. In some cases, usually when coupled with other codes, it may be something else causing a reading that is outside the normal parameters. I'd start by checking the sensor first.

You might try telling us what vehicle you have exactly. In case someone here knows of any known issues with your particular vehicle.

Curious:

As the ambient temperature finally dropped below 100 (the code has been making the "Check Engine" light come on for 4 months)... now the "Check Engine" light has gone off.

Seems to happen only when it's hot outside.

Interestingly, my vehicle wasn't going to pass required "emmissions" testing due to the "check engine" light was on. They didn't actually test emmissions. They looked on my dashboard and saw the "check engine" light and failed me. Luckily, by the deadline, the outdoor temperature dropped enough to reset the "Check engine" light. So I passed. I think I need to re-new my insurance in December, so each year in the future I don't have this issue.

...

Or... fix the problem. Whichever is cheaper right.
