well, the MIL came on today, rear left o2 sensor finally gave up after working hard for 283K. Sparkplugs.com wants $95+$10 shipping......Amazon? $80 delivered to the porch for the exact same NGK/NTK part.......

Real question is are they both overpriced compared to the $30-40 price for the universal o2 sensors that do not come with the model specific connector plug? with those, you simply cut your existing wires off at sensor and splice the new ones in.......the big advantage, other than the upfront savings, is you do not need to disassemble dash/console to get to the original connector to unplug it and fish through to underside of car

anyone have any thoughts?

i expect you will do anyway, but would suggest replace in pairs. on the '94 (yes obd 1, not 2) i only replaced one intially, and within 50 miles, i got a mil for the other one--probably due to imbalance.

edit: i did use the NTKs i'm solder competent, but like the convenience.

one more thought: on the '95 i got a left bank O2 mil after doing egr tube roto-rooter. i had to reset 3x, but after some hard runs it has been fine for last 2.5 yr.

Just double check the NTK numbers with a call as the website has been incorrect on the FGY33 before.

I think Natalie gave NICO members a discount.

Pairs are better for matching the duty cycles.

Do the universal sensors work ok in our cars? I have a 2000.

the only difference between a universal sensor and application specific is the app. specific has the correct plug already attached to the wiring making it a easier install....the universal must be spliced into your wiring using the connectors provided in box.

While I would like to use the app specific part, on the G50 rear sensors, you must dis-mantle and remove center console to get to the plug- seems much easier to just cut and splice the wires under the car where they are very accessible.Be sure to use the waterproof silicon filled butt connectors to keep moisture out of the connections!
