hey guysi almost finished my Q45 brake upgrade on my s13, i just have a quick quick question.

is it necessary to get brake booster when i upgrade to Q45 brake master cylinder? or i just need cylinder only?

1. get Q45 master cylinder only2. get Q45 master cylinder AND Booster together.

It depends on the condition of your master cylinder. I think mine was replaced right before I bought my car, and it works really well with the full 300z brake swap I have. I'd imagine if your MC is in good condition it will be just fine for q45 brakes as well. The brake booster would only be needed if you want to lower the pedal effort used to brake. Most people don't bother with the booster.

I upgraded to 300ZX front brakes and still use the stock MC and booster.

A shop owner down here said if I got "like real brake upgrades - wilwood , baer etc" I would need to upgrade my M.C. I said why and he said " your stock mc is too small to even push 4 piston and up calipers" WHAT!?! So I asked him how do I upgrade it and he said "I don't know" So stupid!!

Heh what a knowledgable mechanic You need to get a larger diameter master cylinder. The Z32 is larger than the ~1" MC of the 240's.

actually i thought s chassis was 15/16

and z32 is 17/16

it makes a big difference from what ive heard though, i plan on swapping my mc for the z32 unit when i switch to z brakes next summer

s chassis - 7/8"z32 - 1" and 17/16" depending on model and year

i'm thinking about upgrading mine, i have the full z32 swap and i have to press the pedal prety hard to get the wheels to lock up. it's not necessary though.

how much do the z32 master cylinders run again? also don't they sit out further than the stock one?

as far as power the stock ones fine, ive always gotten the impression that people get the z32 mc so they have easier pedal movement and can use the brakes more precisely
