I think this is a good thread to understand the capabilities of what our cars can do with a little work done to them.

List the work done to your car and name the car you went against and how you did against them.

I have a 2006 M35 luxury package with Injen CAI, Blox Racing Plenum Spacer and grounding kit (really basic).
I was flexing on An 06-07 M45, he finally raced me off the line at the red light. I won the race but not sure if the driver really put his foot down as he asked if I had a 35 or 45 and didn't even know the difference between the engines.

Another time, an M45 cut off my wife on the emergency lane going on the ramp on the highway, I was right behind my wife's car as we were driving home from my son tee ball practice. I caught up to him and we raced at rolling speed 65mph, I beat him going up 145mph still climbing but had to stop for upcoming traffic.
Funny thing is few month later, he was sitting behind me at our wife's graduation and he couldn't believe that I have a 35.

Good to hear. You'd think the 45's would take us more easily and you just have a very basic set up. Lets here some more stories like this one.

45 pushes more power no doubt takes out 35 easily.
It's not the car, it's the driver... :naughty:

The 45 makes big torque at a lot lower RPM so Id imagine they could win if the race started off the line all other things being equal. Of Course if you take an UpRev tuned 35 against a non UpRev 45 then 35 will win all day long simply because the bigger engine has a governor on it till 25 mph. lol. But if both start at 45+ then it would be a close race for sure and depend more on the driver. The bigger engine really doesnt have THAT much more wheel horsepower, and most people I see for some reason are able to get way more top speed out of the M35's than the bigger brother. Not sure why that is.

As for car's I have beaten:
M35
M45
G35
BMW M3
Civics
Accords
Carollas
Saab 9-3
Saab 9-3 Aero
Jetta TDI
Audi A4
Audi A5
CTS
BRZ

And probably more but those are just off the top of my head

Nice Enigma!

You laced up an M3 and some turbo Audi's? You have an M or G37?

It was a couple year older M3, not like a 2015 model or anything. They are actually tuned down for normal street driving and you have to hit a button to fully unleash the beast in the M3's. The driver was just some stupid teenage guy who probably knew absolutely nothing about the car and had his parents buy it for him. Not surprising I won.

The lower end turbo Audi's still dont have a ton of HP. They can get up and go quick enough but once speed starts climbing that extra 75HP I have on them comes into play and they choke. My G37 differential and gearing helps my M get up a bit faster like the G's are known to do ;)

The CTS was REALLY close at all points, but in the end either his governor kicked in (was about 120mph) or the driver just chickened out. We were both accelerating hard still and all of a sudden he just dropped way behind like the car lost it's engine. Seemed like a governor thing to me.

Not a CTS-V then. That would have been a certain loss.

Still impressed with the regular CTS. Did it have mods?
What are those regular CTS engines? 3.6L? All of them? ....or are there some smaller ones.

For the 3.6, is that an OCV design or pushrod & MPI?
I'm assuming they're all naturally aspirated except the for the V, right?

Dam Enigma!! You have a G37 differential???? I didn't know that was even possible! How would I go about that if I wanted to do a G37 differential? Is it an easy install for a mechanic to do?

Who does the gearing? Is that done to the differential before it's installed?

Have you dyno'd your car or done a 1/4 mile run?

Stock the only real race I remember was against a GTO, newer version from a light and it was a 5.7L stock. We were close for a while then he pulled off ahead of me at some point. IDK if it was due to me having passengers and him solo but either way im sure the static weight didnt make that much of a difference. Once tuned with UpRev and custom exhaust I raced a new 370z and stayed ahead of him until around 130 when he started to catch up but never took the lead as it started to rain. At the 1/4 mile track, Ive beaten the 04-08 mustang GT's, G35's, stock M45, lost to a bunch of real cars too lol. Some others that I can remeber is a SRT4 neon that was not stock ended up losing as he tried to catch up and blew a head gasket. A BMW M5 I had a good match with didnt understand the meaning of 3 honks so it was hard to say who won along with a modified STI. The subaru def seemed like he would of walked all over me though with how hard he was pulling when he did gun it. My best time at the track is a 13.5 and havent seen anyone with an 06/07 beat that and show a time slip or video. Im sure if anyone has headers , better tires, or a VLSD can though in a M45.

Not really worked in any way (unless the previous owner in Japan was the stealthiest modder ever) but my '06 450GT has surprised a few people. Fugas are only just starting to appear in New Zealand, so a lot of people look at them and think they're just Nissan Maximas or Bluebirds. In fact, I've had exactly two people really check out my car, one was in a Fuga 350XV, the other in a Fuga 350GT...

The more memorable ones have been:
Holdens/HSVs (Think Pontiac GTO)
Ford Falcons (Australian type, not old school USA type)
Loads of Civics (Had one guy follow me into a car park to ask "Bro, what you got in there? She's got some pretty mean pick up!")
The most fun was a worked Subaru WRX, when I had 4 people in the car. Probably pushing 2200-2300kg all up at the time. One skinny guy in the Subaru. He could almost keep up :D

Nice guys.

With the mods I have, I came across an 07-08 Eclipse (non turbo). Gave him a whipping. Also an 07-08 Acura TL. Got him too. I try to choose my opponents wisely until I get my exhaust installed and my uprev tune. I just dont want to make an a** of myself haha.

13.5 is quick mexilis.

Ya'll need some M56 in your life.

I don't even bother with most people. Unless you're in a Corvette or something smaller with a similar type power output (putting down ~390hp at the wheels - my car makes 420 at the crank), you're going to lose. Don't waste my time. By the end of the fall, I will also be UpRev'ed (which evidently on the M56 makes a MASSIVE difference) and by winter time I hope to have an exhaust as well.

That's a sick car that he's got. I don't understand why they don't have superchargers for the 56 but they do for the 37.

My M45 got walked by a 2013 Mercedes S550 AMG (V8 twin turbo).

When the light turned green I left him at the light pretty good, about 1 1/2 cars. He passed me as if I was standing still :-(

I don't really use my car to go out and race other people but I wanted to see how my M performed with a car that was stock, heavier and with so much power. This car when new was over $100k. I knew my car wasn't going to win at all. Just wanted to see what a stock V8 with twin turbo can do to my M.

You can always tell people you won the holeshot :dblthumb: Twin turbos are always serious. Power is good to have it there. Not to race every car you see. Some are fun opportunities though.
