I have been looking at the 350Z. 04 to 06. My question is for those of you who drive them in areas with winter months and snow and ice how do they handle. Is it fruitless to try and get out when there is a big snow? I live in Missouri so if they are really bad in winter there isn't much a point in looking at one for me personally. Any help is greatly appreciated also how do you feel about only being able to have one passenger

Good winter tires should get you through snow. I've seen Z's with roof mounted snowboard racks. I like the fact that it only sits two. I don't have to pick up or drop off as many drunk a** people.

I 2nd that, it does not snow much (I say much because it did while I was in college here) in Austin, TX; however, I do like only having one passenger as it is very rare for me to be the one elected to drive to lunch, to dinner, to the bars on 6th.

The other "chore" I've escaped is serving as the taxi driver when friends are visiting; kind of tough to pick up more than one person from the airport!

A dedicated winter tire is your only option if you want max traction in the white stuff. If you get more ice than snow, get studded tires on all 4 corners.

(Brave) people drove Miatas, Z3s, and Boxsters while I was stationed in AK, so any car can be driven in any condition as long as it has the right tires.

Best bet is to pick up a set of winter wheels too, so putting on/removing the winter set is easy.

The passenger thing is up to you. If you are the type of person that likes to go to clubs and pic up 3-4 random hot chicks (assuming you are a guy), than the Z isn't going to work for you.

If you just need a rewarding, minimalist space, get from A --> B briskly and never have more than 4 bags of groceries, then the Z might work.

A question about driving the Z in the snow and spring isn't even over - you certainly plan ahead.

My Z is daily driven and handles the snow with no real problems. My work commute takes me across a 4000' pass in the Blue Ridge Mountains and I've never had any issues. I run Bridgestone RE960AS's during the crappy months and they're as close to an all out snow tire that I've ever encountered in an all-season tire.

I had a writeup about them after I ran into my first snow right after I got them. When I find the stuff I'll copy and paste it in here for you. But with good tires (all seasons or full on snow tires) and all the electronic nannies that the Z has to offer you should be ok in the winter & snow, except for the occasional 6"+ snowfall.
