I've been reading occasional reviews of the new G35 by owners of the previous generation. Today I took my car in and got an '06 G35 as a loaner.
Overall, I think the '07 and later is a lot more refined, but the '06 has much nicer steering, and a nicer engine sound in my view. As much as the servotronic steering of the '07 is nice when you're parking - ie. it's very light at that speed, the '06's steering just feels more natural and progressive in my view. If I could get an '07 interior and exterior, with the same luxury/comfort settings, but with the '06 steering feel, that would be ideal.
A couple of years ago I drove an Audi Allroad V6. At the time, I found out that Audi's servotronic steering was controller via a small relay. If you removed the relay, the servotronic steering would be turned off, and normal (read - progressive) power steering would be in place (that was how the European spec shipped). I would love to find a similar relay for the '07 G35x to tighten up the steering... Anyone?
