I got my Altima Coupe 3/08 new. Changed oil 12/08 at 5,000 mi. with regular oil. I have no record of the planned 10,000 mi. oil change, when I hope I switched to Mobil 1 synthetic, as was my plan. I'm changing oil and filter again tomorrow (2/05) at 14,700 mi. If I've overlooked the 10,000 mi. oil change, is there anything the mechanic can check to make sure there is no damage. Is there anything he can check on the car or in the oil or filter (short of expensive professional lab analysis) for a clue as to whether the oil has less than nearly 10,000 miles on it. I can't find my receipt and the mechanic doesn't keep those records. I drive the car gently in clean and easy driving conditions, no dust, no hauling, no rush hour traffic, etc . Hope I haven't harmed my wonderful car.

Your fine. There is much debate in this field from people who drive their old Chevy trucks for its lifetime and never change the oil, they just keep adding to its leaking problem. So people say oil is only good ones it gets old and black. Some people swear by 3,000. These are numbers I go by.

Regular - 3-10k

Part Syn - 5-15k

Full Syn - 15-25k
