Had my taillight overlays (bought from Bat) installed by my tint guy. While although they look ok, they aren't right (some creases, had to seam them). Well, Bat is sending me another set and I'm looking for someone to install them right. Anyone know of someone in the Phoenix, AZ area that does this kind of work.....haven't had any luck so far myself.......thanks

You can get them at Bluebatmobile.net

Brian, Your tint shop shouldn't be cutting them. The need to be warmed up using a heat gun so you can make it pliable. Make sure to check out the directions that came with them.

Oh, I know they aren't supposed to be seamed and my tint guy did use a heat gun. However, he was still unable to get the outside corner to shrink up enough. While he has been tinting for 30 years, he has no experience with vinyl and according to Bat that is probably the problem. Still haven't found a local shop to put on a second set for me. Would try it myself but at $40 a pop, these things aren't exactly cheap. Plus, I was able to heat up and fix a few of the problem areas so they don't look so bad now. They just aren't perfect.

If I were you, I would order them on-line from bluebat. He has a good product. I ordered my first set from him and while the install was ok, it wasn't up to my standard. So, I took my car to a local shop and they use two different types of vinyl to do their overlays. I had them put 3M on because I liked it better than the other one they offered (can't remember the name).

What style headlight overlays are they? Your ride looks sweet.

Thanks for the compliments! They were full headlight overlays but I ended up cutting the pattern out myself because I wanted more light since my entire windshield is tinted. Since I did mine, Bat started selling ones almost exactly like mine. He makes good stuff, you should check it out.

Hey Brian, still havent found a shop to install? I'm looking for a good installer to install my Overlays in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I have a guy here in San Diego that does virtually all my installs. He's done a ton of Altimas to date. Too bad you werent out here. He'd install them for you. Take care bud

I will bet you $100 that if you try these yourself, you will mess them up... the install was too much for most of us do it yourselfers... and when I saw Bat's installer do the install, I was glad I didn't try to tackle it... if a tint guy of 30+ years couldn't do it, what chances do us average D.I.Y.'ers have???

Your best bet will be to wait and find someone to do it, if you can't do that, of course you have to try to tackle it yourself, and if you end up in that boat, please be very patient during the install... it may very well take a beginner 3-4 hours to do the install perfectly...

the biggest hurdle is the wierd curvature of our taillights... the most beautiful aspect of our car becomes both a blessing and the curse when doing this install!!

Bat - I actually ended up finding a shop to do my vinyls here in Phoenix (actually Tempe). The shop was called Perfect Symmetry and the installer Jimmy said he knew you from San Diego. He ended up using bulk 3m vinyl for the front, side mirrors, and back. I don't know how people are getting these things on without seaming them. He even had to do the install twice and on the second time had to seam the tail lights. They look extremely clean and you can't even see the seam. For those people out there that do these DYI (at least the tail lights), more power to you!

yes, you can remove them later if you don't like them... just ask all the folks that tried to do it themselves and messed up... most of their installs ended ina frustrating rip off of the overlays from their lights... and I'm not clowning them at all, this stuff is hard to do!

Brian, it can be done without seaming them, but it is EXTREMELY difficult. Bat's installer does the full overlays without seaming them, but he has to seam the GTR-style cutout overlays to make them look good!
