What style headlight overlays are they? Your ride looks sweet.2brian0 wrote:Oh, I know they aren't supposed to be seamed and my tint guy did use a heat gun. However, he was still unable to get the outside corner to shrink up enough. While he has been tinting for 30 years, he has no experience with vinyl and according to Bat that is probably the problem. Still haven't found a local shop to put on a second set for me. Would try it myself but at $40 a pop, these things aren't exactly cheap. Plus, I was able to heat up and fix a few of the problem areas so they don't look so bad now. They just aren't perfect.
Hey Brian, still havent found a shop to install? I'm looking for a good installer to install my Overlays in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I have a guy here in San Diego that does virtually all my installs. He's done a ton of Altimas to date. Too bad you werent out here. He'd install them for you. Take care bud2brian0 wrote:Thanks for the compliments! They were full headlight overlays but I ended up cutting the pattern out myself because I wanted more light since my entire windshield is tinted. Since I did mine, Bat started selling ones almost exactly like mine. He makes good stuff, you should check it out.
I will bet you $100 that if you try these yourself, you will mess them up... the install was too much for most of us do it yourselfers... and when I saw Bat's installer do the install, I was glad I didn't try to tackle it... if a tint guy of 30+ years couldn't do it, what chances do us average D.I.Y.'ers have???skiski329 wrote:I am thinking of getting them my self and putting them on my self. but what is my room for error?
yes, you can remove them later if you don't like them... just ask all the folks that tried to do it themselves and messed up... most of their installs ended ina frustrating rip off of the overlays from their lights... and I'm not clowning them at all, this stuff is hard to do!skiski329 wrote:but can i remove them later? or when they dry i am fu@#ed?
Brian, it can be done without seaming them, but it is EXTREMELY difficult. Bat's installer does the full overlays without seaming them, but he has to seam the GTR-style cutout overlays to make them look good!2brian0 wrote:I don't know how people are getting these things on without seaming them.
