Ok I posted in someone elses thread and felt bad so im starting my own..-----------------------------------

I had to remove my thermostat otherwise the car will over heat

Got the car; it had issues boiling over.. radiator split @ the top and it overheated; headgasket = shot..

Replaced headgasketNew dual core radiatorNew thermostatNew temp sending unitNew water pump... Still overheats

Took it to nissan; they said the thermostat that I just replaced is bad. Fine. They replace it for $100; I get in the car, drive for 5 minutes, overheated. Took the thermostat out.. it hasn't been in for a year or so now..

I would like to get it back.. no heat/defrost really f*kin sucks in the hills/rain/snow.. The only thing I haven't replaced is the fan clutch [from what I remember anyways].. =/

Anyone have any ideas? [sorry for posting this in ur thread!]

Oh yeah one more thing.. on a normal temperature day the temp [according to the gauge] gets close about 1/2 up.. it never goes over; ill be driving up to the hills @ night [cold outside] and look at the gauge every few minutes and can see the gauge going lower and lower until its at the very bottom.. which means no heat#%#!!#

I would love to get this fixed.. someone plz think of something to fix it for meh

I talked to a fellow nico member and he wasn't sure if my headgasket has the correct cooling holes.. here is a diagram of it and how the current cooling system is:

had the same thing with my car

I think what finally fixed it was a nissan thermostat --the a-zone/discount/cheap parts store ones are not the same

and bleeding the coolant system-I did this probably 4-5 times and it still heated up after the first couple miles for another couple weeks--but now it's OK most of the time

I replaced-radiator,thermostats,fan clutch, sending unit and water pump(all within about 1 month-and all were bad except the sending unit)

these things have got some crazy predisposition towards this behavior

When the car was @ the nissan dealership they said my brand new thermostat was faulty and replaced it.. it still overheated..

I would think the mechanic bled the system properly =/

not necessarily, not all mechanics are familiar with bleeding procedures. My friend's sister's maxima got it's coolant changed at a local dealership, but the guy was new and wasn't familiar with the bleeding procedures. On the way home, her car overheated and the dealership fronted the fix-it costs as their mech messed up royal.

Hmm is the headgasket seated properly? Perhaps some of the coolant passages are blocked or partially blocked, keeping you from getting your coolant system functioning properly. Just a thought if your system was bled properly and other parts are functioning properly.

If the "Purge hole" in the flange of the thermostat is not placed at the 12 o'clock position when the thermostat is intalled you will get the same symtoms. The block will air lock.

I had to bleed my brothers car for 2 days after I did the headgasket on it. It sucked that it took so long, but it hasn't overheated since. And yes I know the proper bleeding procedure. As Chuck said, make sure that purge hole is up or it will be next to impossible to bleed the system.
