i have a 91 240sx hatch with a 93 engine int it ka24demy prblem is my engine temp gauge says my engine is overheating after about one-two miles. my engine EGR pipe has been taken off and the oulets and inlets blocked off. my engine is also leaking antifreeze somewhere between the engine itself and the fire wall . leaking has slowed down thought. what could be the problem overheating wise and leaking wise. oh and the car also idles hight at about 2000 rpm

your coolant leak is probably at your heater hoses. Change it asap since those are pretty big hoses.

why post that info about your egr? do you want the egr working again or what?

the idle is high, way high at 2k. Lower it to 800rpm or so. Your idle control screw is located on your IACV that's connected to your intake manifold. Look for a big phillips head screw. tighten the screw to lower your idle, loosen to raise.

u blew the head gasket. Hi idle plus coolant comming outta the motor = HG leak. and yea id say new motor time Well id say if its comming from between the head and the block. If it got hot enough to melt wires thats really hot. If it wasnt blown its probally blown now. How is compression and also any smoke?

well i found the leak and it looks like it is coming from a heater hose. the car smokes only after overheating it doen'st smoke out the exhaust. i have no idea about compression.

sell your car and buy a honda.. if you took the chance to drive that car with an overheating problem then you really don't deserve to drive a car without a warrenty. chances are you blew your head gasket and if you continue to start it and idle it your collant is going to leak into your combustion area and all hell is gonna break loose... it would have taken $10 in parts to replace your heater hose and avoid everything thats has happened... if you melted you sparkplug wires then your motor is probably in need of a swap.. shall we recommend an H22 for you since you can blow the hell out of it and still have it running... Check compression and see if its good.. its called a compression gauge... you can pick it up for $20bucks at discount. use it check compression and if its below 140 on any of the cyls you have problems and are screwed from driving the car for a while. good luck and get your 4Sale sign ready

Who are you to stipulate who deserves to drive what car? Get real man. You provided some good info, but the caustic sarcasm, imho, was truly not necessary. The guy is here because he needed some assistance on his 240 problems; he didn't come here to be told to buy a Honda. You were a newbie once also, or have you forgotten already.

If changing the coolant hoses you might also want to replace the thermostat and radiator cap - never know what that heat could have done to it. and depending on the mileage of the car if you haven't replace the upper and lower radiator hoses it might be a good time to check/replace them now.

When I got my car a few months back I replaced most of the coolant hoses - and there were a LOT of them!
