Car: 1993 Nissan Sentra

My 1993 Sentra overheated on the gauge quickly but engine takes a few minutes to overheat. .I've changed the thermostat, sending unit and put in a new aftermarket gauge. It still does the same thing, any ideas? I think I'll replace the sending unit and I'm thinking about a new water pump.
