ok here is my problem few moth ago my radiator broke i replaced radiator and car would not heat up in cold and was overheating in hot weather i was told it was thermostat i did not have time to replace one and was driving like that for maybe two moth and then transmission decided it was time to retire it kinda exploded ATF was all over the place got used transmission and told shop to flush radiator and replace thermostat while car was there for transmission picked up car and it started to overheat when stopped for red light and only when it is in gear i returned back to shop to see if they could do anything also so next thing we did we replaced water pump it was missing one of the blades but problem never stopped i asked shop guys if there was anything also they told me to clean idle air speed ctrl because car use to idle at about 1500 to 2000 as it was overheating while stopped i took part off it was filthy cleaned it and now idle remains in normal range but overheating remains a problem we did run car with cap off and all that i just dont know what i can do more about this oh and by the way after shop did thermostat i read here that it maybe faulty even when its new so i replaced it one more time :) never helped anyone in same boat or has been ?

Did you 'burp' the system after replacing the radiator and thermostat? You may have trapped air in the system. Do you hear 'gurgling' sound when you turn on the heater? Do you have any coolant leak?

You may have a bad (new) radiator. It could have been the reason you blew your trnasmission since ATF is cooled thru the radiator. Refer tothe link below, starting on page LC-8
