So recently my fan clutch went out and i had to replace it. well while that was broke i drove it very little but i think while i did the extra stress it put on the water pump broke that too?

got home last night and it sounded like the water in my overflow was boiling! not really too sure what to think of it what you guys think?

^^overflow tank boiling after you shut it off has always been a sign in my cases that the headgasket was blown.

headgaskets usually go for well over a thousand at most reputable shops.

However, you said it seems fine now? It may not be the headgasket.

How high was your temp gauge when you got back?Often times with a headgasket, you can let the car sit and idle and it won't overheat, however when you take it for a drive you will start to have the problems.

i doubt its the headgasket. (im not doubting your knowledge) but i had the same thing happen to me. i stripped the clutch fan off a long time ago and run an E-fan. but my fan shorted out about a month ago and if i drove it, or let it idle for an extended period of time it would over-heat. causing my overflow to boil

The way he made it sound though is that the problem is FIXED and the fan now works. Which would mean overheating should no longer be present.

in your case, the fan was not working. causing the overheating.

Sounds like a bad thermostat, every time mine has gone bad and is not opening it boils over into the overflow tank. Reason being it's not going through the motor and is just boiling back into the overflow tank. Also if you recently replaced the thermostat it could be an air bubble in the system. Don't worry about the headgasket, even if the headgasket is bad it doesn't take long to do one and it's actually pretty easy (If you are even slightly mechanically inclined) Cost would be less than $200.00 to fix it yourself and could be done in a day...mine took 6 1/2 hours to do. For $200.00 dollars you could get all new head bolts, a good gasket and a few other things. Plus while you have it apart you can adjust the lifters if they need it, clean stuff and make it run better!

the fan is fixed now but i was thinkin maybe the short time that it wasn't working it put extra stress on the water pump and its just now gettin finished off. could it be the water pump?

You would eventually notice your coolant level going down everytime you drove it. white smoke from the tailpipe and the oil would most likely turn milky colored from water being in it. Plus the oil level would raise on the dipstick from water being in it.
