I have a stock 1992 nissan 240sx -recently had motor rebuilt. I has motor abou t1500 miles on it. The engine was overheating - i had air in the system. It was bled it was still overheating- the theromastat was remeoved it runs fine heat wise. Now with a brand new motor and new thermo- could i have a bad water pump impeller? It (wp) about 1 year old.OR just a bad thermo?

An easy way to see if it is your thermostat is to take it out and place it in a small pot, and boil the some water with it and get a thermostat and see if it opens at 170 F. Some times it might open at 175 or lower, but as long as its in that area, you should be ok. Ive gotten a thermostat from orielys that was actually bad and didnt open till about 190 F. The water pump is anouther possibility but they usually are ok unless its leaking, which tells you that its broken.
