when you get air in the coolent lines you will overheat. Also check your timing, it might be too advanced causing you to run lean and hot. Does the level of your coolent go down when you run the car, can you see it circulating with the cap off while its running. You have air in the system when you get bubbles that pop coolent out of the radiator when the engine is warm.....also make sure you dont smell gas in the coolent, that means you have a bad head gasket.

Have the same problem, bottom hose cold upper hot, change the thermostat same thing cold and hot hose,so I thought it was the thermostat, hear some termo are defective so I bought two different termo, tryied them both same thing, water pump work,no white smoke, run with out thermo does not overheat till and hour or so in stop and go traffic.and the water level sims low,but don't see water under car or heater core, Can't run it forever with out thermo. I notice something the heater core top hose is hot and the bottom warm, think there is a flow problem??

When bleeding your coolant, jack up the front of your car and put a funnel in the radiator. fill it about halfway and make sure that it is the highest point in the cooling system. Run it until there are no more bubbles. KA loves to keep air in the system.

There is actually a FSM procedure as well, but I never have problems doing the way I stated above.

it could be as simple as your radiator cap.

As wa-chiss said, it could be the cap. Most people overlook the radiator cap. It is designed to hold a certain amount of pressure in the system before opening to allow coolant to flow into the resevoir tank. Liquid under pressure boils at a higher temperature, so if your cap is not holding the pressuse your coolant will boil over at a lower temperature.

The correct way to fill the ka24de is to open the "air relief valve" (a bolt on the intake manifold just after the upper radiator hose attaches to the manifold), then fill the radiator until coolant comes out the bolt hole.

this topic was originally posted by me, and i have to post my result... after all that went wrong, what seemed like such a huge thing... it WAS just the radiator cap... for 6$ i got a new one and the problem was solved...

Glad to hear that it is resolved... I think I know how you feel, I've spent hundreds of dollars in the past trying to fix problems with my 240 that wound up being something simple and cheap. After 6 years of maintaining my 240, I have a large stock of spare parts that I will soon be selling since I recently bought a 350z.

alright.. when i first brouhgt my car... cheap bastard puted 87 gas, and ask i drove it up hill it overheated, but once i got some 91 in it, it ran fine... so yea maybe check timing it might be runing lean... mix water and coolants. water will bring up the boiling points... and drive it at nIHGT!

Search how to bleed coolant in the archives. Did you also make sure the thermo had the hole pointing up and the heater on hot and the bleeder hole open?

TIP: have the front lifted or have it at an incline.
