92 vert w/RB20 DET and racing intercooler. stock radiator. Overheats after like 20 miles. All the coolant will burn off. Any ideas? Radiator? Thermostat?

All the coolant burns off? You sure it's not all leaking out?

Positive. I never see it on the ground at least and you can see the boiling in the reservoir. The only place it comes out is the relief, but that's b/c it's boiling so violently by th time I stop

Air bubbles in the coolant system, not allowing coolant to flow through the engine properly. If you are just throwing coolant into the rad without any attempt at bleeding the system of air, then I'd say that's the issue.

Clogged rad could be it though if not the air bubbles.

I am way too well acquainted with overheating problems on my RB20. what a saga!!!

Is your RB20 stock still?

Have you bled the system properly using the bleeder on top of the intake plenum?

Did you have the water pump replaced before install?

Do you get heat inside the cabin for prolonged time?

I can def. help you through this as I've gone through the whole deal myself.

Do you have AIM? Mine is xx eikon xxCall me if you want.. 920 - 819 - 2271

A local guy had overheating problem for months. He replaced thermostats several times and bled real good too. Checked radiator and it seemed like working.

Problem was stock raditor was partially clogged, so coolant was flowing well enough. He bought the Mishimoto radiator and problem fixed. Coolant system is pretty simple, so if you try 3 or 4 things and it should get fixed.

Still no luck. Can anyone suggest a good radiator for the RB20. I'm noticing there's no specific radiators like there are for the SR20.

If you haven't replaced it yet, definitely replace the thermostat. It is cheap and is very common that it goes bad. It can "stick" partially open as well which would allow some water to go through to supply enough water to the heater core etc.

Koyo upgrade S13 KA radiator should work fine for you. The RB really needs the extra width over the stock ones. It's a hot running engine.

The aluminum ones are even better if you want to spend the extra money. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW

The stock KA has both ports on the passenger side like you need.

How's the mishimoto workin for that guy? I saw that that one is for MT only and I haven't done the conversion yet. Would it still work with auto?
