Just finished up my car today

ARP head studsCometic gasketnew water pumpnew thermostatcleaned radiator and condensorFixed "fiznat" leak

still the car is overheating at idle. still seems like the T-stat isnt opening right (2-3 i've put in now). cruising the car gets up to about 200 degrees soemtimes more sometimes less (usually after boosting and getting lots of airflow, i've beleed the system what seems to be the best i could.

is there any way to test the clutch fan?

any suggestions?

I went through 2 thermostats before I got one to work half way right. I hate paying 60bucks for a NISMO thermostat but I did. I bet you have an air pocket. It is a PITA to get the air out of the system. You can throw all your thermostats in a pot of boiling water and see if it opens all the way. The other thing you can do is just remove the thermostat and run without one. That will let you know if it is the thermostat or air in the system.

I know a thousand people have already told you this, but I thought I would link it for anyone not yet familiar with it....

Trapped air is extremely common in the darned KA.

raise the front end of the car up about 4 or 5 inches. make the radiator cap the highest point in the system, and when adding coolant, shake the car, and rev the engine some, it should help get all the air out. as for the thermostat, i gave up trying to get one that works, i just run without one, it doesn't get cold enuf down here to worry about it.

Don't forget to open up the bleeder bolt on the intake manifold, and push down the upper radiator hose so that the air will come out. For some reason, I think a lot of people miss this step.

sorry for not updating on this forum.

the car i think fixed itself. at idle the temp doesnt go past 194 and crusing stays 190 and below. so maybe it blurpped out the overflow tank. who knows but i love it when stuff works itself out.

of course i had jstu ordered a nsimo t-stat and got some altima fans fromt the junkyard the day before. ill at least use the altima fans i think
