Yeah, I have a 1990 Nissan 240SX, which I bought about 2 weeks ago, and when I bought it, it just got the headgasket changed, oil changed, a new radiator, flushed the radiator fluid, also the head was reworked to ensure there was no damage, and all this was done at a mechanic that people I know have used many times and have never had a complaint, so he usually does quality work. I first expirenced the problem under a very hard left turn. The temp gauge shot up to H rapidly, then went back down slowly. I let it cool for 20 minutes and then drove it around the block, no problems, drove it around again, no problems, drove it around again, but this time took the left turn really hard, and it overheated, but it cooled down, but not to its normal position. It was a little more than half way. Then, about 2 hours later, I had to drive it to class (about 10 miles - a 10 minute drive with crappy traffic and people who can't merge) and about halfway there, it was runnin about 3/4 the way to H. since it would be faster to go ahead and go to class, I just drove it to class. The gauge would bobble to H, then down to the middle. repeat. all the way. With a new headgasket and headwork, and a new radiator, what could be the problem? I was thinking the thrmostat was sticking open, but then why would it bobble up and down like that? Also, I put water in it, but it wasn't all that low to begin with.hrm, during finals week too. Anyone got any ideas, beacuse if it is a major money project, I'll just bring my neon i'm trying to sell out of retirement until I can afford an SR motor. Please help.

Just had the same problem (-) the turn crap. Still haven't got it nailed down yet. Make sure it's bled all the way. I had lots of air. Once I got that out I figured out I was eating fluid. I bled it several times before I got the air out. I would start there.

is there a certain way to bled the system on these cars? I have done it on another car, but is it the same thing? Where can I find a walkthrough on how to do this?

go to the upper right hand corner and use the search function. I've posted how I bleed my system as well as many others posting about how they've bled theirs.

well then, I put some water in my radiator and I made it home with no overheating problem. My friend seems to think it is my clutch fan and water pump, his went out and was doing somewhat the same thing. This car has a new HG, thermostat, radiator, gaskets for all of these, all of which was put on by a mechanic. My friend thinks this beacuse my fan is loose and is squeaky. Any ideas?

If it got the HG job, it might be that there's some junk blocking the water passeges in the block. Might want to just make sure you've got some flow in your system and then to about checking the other stuff. The squeak might be coming from your belt. If that's the case, might want to check the water pump for leaks.

I changed the water pump, still overheated, changed the clutch fan, still overheated, changed the thermostat (even though it was only 1.5 years old), and it seemed fixed. Today it Overheated for about 20-30 seconds, so I bled the system and all better. eh, who knows eh?
