If you have a thermostat in your engine, remove and drive-test the vehicle. If it still overheats, check the function of your water pump to make sure that perhaps the impeller hasn't been sheered from the shaft (obvious one here). If that checks out okay, do a compression test and compare the readings between the 4 cylinders. If they are not with in 10% of each other, report your findings back here and we'll go from there. Other than that, you may possibly have burned a fire-ring which is allowing some coolant to get into particular cylinder and the tell-tell signs would be a tainted or some tainted spark plugs.cawatts13 wrote:recently my car has been overheating pretty bad but no signs of smoke. also idles rough/sounds like crap when driving. drove it a few days ago and within 10min the temp gauge was buried and started puking antifreeze. its been raining every day where im at on my off days so i cant really go out and look at it atm. ive been told it could still be blown headgasket. just wondering if anyone have had any problems like these so i can get some feedback to know where to start looking when it comes time to take it apart
The compression is not so bad, but says there are some issues with that motor. What type of fans are you using? And also, did you pull the thermostat yet? Check those and let me know your findings. Your turbo seals can blown and it still wouldn't cause your car to overheat. I just did a car with a blown T25 and this guys was killing all mosquitoes in Miami. After being ticketed by local law enforcement, he decided to drop the car off to me for upgrades. He wants 300whp and no more smoking. I promised him 350whp on pump gas asdaily driver .cawatts13 wrote:alright just ran a compression test.. from front to back cylinders read: 140, 160, 130, 140. no visible water in oil by taking valve cover off. but my next question is, with turbo oil seals being blown could that cause water to leak through too??? hate to sound like an idiot but im noob to the whole turbo car thing and i dont make enough money for now to pay someone to look at it until my hours go back up.. is there anything else i can look for as to signs of losing water / oil..
i second this. air bubbles can cause the thermostat NOT to open. i actually just got done doing this on mine.trevr wrote:Had a similar problem a while back, my fix was burbing all the air from the upper radiator hose. Can be done by taking the radiator cap off and squeezing the upper hose and releasing till you see no more bubbles. Also make sure your resevior is at the correct level.
