So Ive been having a issue with my sr with overheating. Ive replaced the thermostat, i have no coolant leaks, I am just running water, samco hoses, and stock water pump and radiator. My car tends to run warm during the day not overheating but its a little above the middle part of the gauge. Ive tried everything and it still won't run cool. Ive basically narrowed it too the radiator just gets heat soaked too easily. I was basically trying to see if anyone else had any oppinions on waht it could be cause im about to order a koyo. That brings me to my next question whats the differance between the koyo n flow and the regular koyo theres only like a 20$ Differance not sure if its significantly better but just don't wanna waste my money. Thanks In advance!

Water gets hot faster than coolant does.. This is the reason for the 50/50 mix. Also, you may have air in your system.

The 50/50 mix is actually so it doesn't freeze (hence the name ANTI-freeze) it also slightly alters the boiling point when ethylene glycol is added.

To be completely honest if it's only "slightly" above half it's most likely fine. If i remember correctly half is about 185 degrees, so slightly above that is still probably less that 200 degrees. which isn't bad, but not ideal either.
If everything you say is good really is, than i would say get the Koyo, the SR is known for generating TONS of heat and i think any SR swap should have Koyo anyway.

240_SeX, I know this, but it also takes more exposure to heat for it to to heat up.. It doesn't heat up nearly as fast as water.

That is true, i never said it wasn't. However a cooling system should have the ability to maintain a sutiable coolant tempature with either.

If you review the chart a 70/30 mix actually gives you the best protection.

Thanks for the Info. I put antifreeze in last night. So today I'll rebleed it and see if it makes a differance and post back up.

Well after adding antifreez the temp seems more stable. I rebleed it too so thats good. Im still running warm when I drive it hard though. So I ordered a koyo and we will see how that affects it since my issue is mostly now with hard driving.

Alright Got my Koyo N-Flow yesterday. I pulled my stock radiator. Found out it was very dirty, also there was possibly half a bird in it. I don't think that was helping my problem, But Got the koyo in mounted my altima fans. Ive been driving it and so far soo good temp stays normal even when im driving hard through the heat. So as far as I can say for now I beleive the problem is solved :) Im curious as what my temp would run like if I give the stock radiator a good cleaning though.

If it's really dirty or partially clogged it may be fine with a good cleaning. But as I said I think all swaps should have a koyo, the SR generates a ton of heat.
