Overheating bad thermostat???

I have a 92 240 sx stock. I recently had the moter rebuilt. It has about 1500 miles , The car about 1 week ago would overheat all the way to the H the heater would bring it down. I had air in the system - it was bled- ran OK for about 3 days. Overheated again and this time the mechanic removed the theromstat. I has run fin now for 3 days no overheat. Could i have a BAD thermo- even though the motor has 1500 miles on it? OR could i have a bad impeller in the water pump? Or could i have a bad heater core? Heater core replaced 3 years ago- WP about 1 year ago. HELP

Well if it runs great without the thermo then I guess you can safely say that's your problem. You an pick one up for under $20. I would get a good one from dealer or the like. Stay away from Autozone ect.
