Hello, I bought a 2009 1.8 s last Monday. Its Sunday, and I've had to have the car towed already. I don't know what to think or do I went to my fathers and everything was fine, then hours later, about 3 miles into the drive home, the overheat light came on. Pulled over. Waited a bit. Still on. called road side assistance, they advised I do not drive it even if the light goes out so I had it towed. I have been having a weird problem with the start up too, I turn the key, the engine cranks...and cranks and cranks before starting. I read this is a common problem with some others, right? I just want to make sure I read that right.

Anyway, the car had 6199 miles when I bought it, and now it has 6295. I haven't even put 100 miles on it yet has anyone else had any trouble with the overheating? I bought this car because I thought it would be reliable and I wouldn't have to worry about these things and I'm starting to regret trading in my 97 minivan with 117,000 miles on it

You should have just towed the car directly to the dealership. Sorry to hear what happened with the Versa but seeing that you just bought the car they should be covering stuff like that.

Good luck with that and keep us posted as to the outcome.

thats where it will be towed but since it was a sunday and the dealership doesn't have anywhere to drop them off after hours it will be dropped off sometime today...I've already called the dealership so they know to be expecting it. and if I have any more problems after they find and fix the issues here, then I'm going to keep it all well documented. I wouldn't be surprised if I got a lemon honestly, its just my luck

The only time people have reported long cranks is when the fuel pump regulator needed replacing, always under warranty. My daughter had that happen and had it fixed and has had no problems since.

I can't see how that would be related to the overheating, however. Sounds like there may have been a reason yours was traded in with such low mileage. I hope you have some luck with the dealer!

yeah I was sort of thinking the same thing, that perhaps it was traded for problems before, I'm not exactly sure why they wouldn't at least fix the problem before reselling since it would only come back again anyway. This is sooo frustrating!

I learned that after signing the papers that it was bought in an auction, and I suspect they didn't have to tell me before hand. Its Nissan certified, which is one of the main reasons I bought it, I figured it had to go through so many checks that there couldn't be anything wrong. Silly me, I guess. After learning about it being bought at an auction I thought, okay, maybe it was a repo or someone just couldn't really afford the payments. The car fax is clean and I figured what can a car have wrong at 6000 miles learned an important lesson I guess...move to the city and take the bus.

The problem with Carfax is that it only has problems that were reported to insurance agencies or from police reports. If someone didn't report something then it wouldn't be in there. I think the others are right though, you probably just need some coolant and the fuel pump regulator replaced. At least you've got a warranty.
