Hello,

I have 91 Ka24de 240sx and when i bought her she was overheating (i should also note that the car sat for a year or two.) I went to go change the thermostat and saw that there wasn't one in there, i put one in it and still overheating. I went and changed the water pump also and it was still overheating. i bled the system by opening the air relief plug on the upper rad hose until i had a stream of coolant. I let the car ran for about 20 minutes and noticed that my rad was cold, upper rad hose was really hot, lower rad hose was cold and so was the rad. I'm going to check the thermostat again tomorrow and make sure that its still fine. If the thermostat is fine does anyone know what else could be wrong with it?

I also noticed that within 2 minutes my temp gauge jumps up to hot.

:welcome: to NICO!

Have you pulled the radiator and flushed it to see what kind of flow you're getting through it?

So i went ahead and pulled both rad hoses. Than ran some water through the rad and i had flow. I pulled the thermostat again and it is working fine. A friend had a working temp sensor so i borrowed it and swapped that one in and im still overheating. While the car was powered on i disconnected the sending unit sensor and the gauge dropped to Cold so im guessing that its not the gauge or the sensor.

After everything i poured some coolant back in and bled the car and its still overheating. I let the car run for 45 minutes while i was bleeding it and noticed that the e fan came on once but the rad was still cold all over except the top where the upper rad hose connects. The lower rad hose was cold too. The gauge was at the first line before H.

Any ideas?

remove that thermostat completely... and see if the same symptoms occur again (hunch that the t-stat is stuck closed)
