I followed the directions directly from the Nissan Factory Manual and also from the FAQ Board and for some reason the car is overheating at idle after a flush and fill. I'm pretty sure I followed the directions carefully, but the lower hose never got hot and after several minutes of idling the car's temp sensor went way up and the oveflow started bubbling. Now this has happened before and I replaced the radiator cap and it seemed to be ok, but that was after adding more water after the temp gauge shot up. Is there any foolproof way to flush and fill this car to avoid overheating issues? In other words to get the thermostat to open? Thanks.

You have a air pocket somewhere in the system. Remove radiator cap, turn on heater to high.. Then turn on car go to front and push down on car rock up/down, add antifreeze top off, when it starts to overflow turn off car,put back radiator cap. Run car again and check..

I thought that I might. I'll try your advice, may be hard to do, this is a track car and it is REALLY stiff.

If worse comes to worse you can literally stand in the engine bay between radiator brackets and hop up and down. Just enough space there..I stood there once I forget why though?

nissan figured this one out already guys. there is a bleeder screw in the upper radiator hose engine mount. unscrew it some and add till liquid comes out of hole. Run car with heater on max until thermostat opens. shut off, let cool and top it off. Shouldn't overheat after that.
