So my car starting overheating two days ago and I seem to be a little stuck, some guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Car: 91 240sx with a stock ka24de

I drove back down home (appx 180 miles) without a problem. I got back and stopped at a friends house for about an hour, then drove home which is just over 5 miles from his house and the car started overheating a mile from my house. the next morning i filled the radiator a little bit, as it went down a bit, and i checked/tightened all the clamps because the hose going to the intake appeared to have pushed some coolant out (seemed too pressurized). Now it doesn't seem to leak but it still over heats

Two weeks ago I put in a new thermostat, and it hasn't had a problem until now
I'm pretty positive that it's not the water pump (I don't hear any noises, no leaking, and my heater is working)
I've had the same radiator for appx. 3 years, It's cxracing dual-core radiator, and does not seem to be leaking (can't tell yet since it's been raining)
I tried a new radiator cap (got the one for a 300zx (16psi/ 1.1 bar) from advance since it holds a bit more pressure than the stock one (13psi 0.89bar))

I'm gonna try to take out the radiator and inspect/flush it, and inspect all the hoses (maybe something is clogged?)

I'm quite confused so any help is appreciated, thank you

Be sure to properly bleed the system of air.

Could be a lot of things... definitely bleed the system well.... but also, we need to know if it overheats when sitting still, or driving?

Doubtful the hoses are clogged, that doesn't happen.

Check your fan clutch, test the thermostat, make sure you're not running too much coolant (use roughly 30% coolant / 70% distilled water), do you have a fan shroud? Is there something blocking flow through the radiator? Have you cleaned the fins (pressurized water from the back of the radiator to blast out bugs and crap)? Is the overflow functioning properly?

Lots of stuff to check. :)

sorry it took me so long to reply, I ended up pulling out the thermo again and drove back up to school, today I installed a thermostat i got from nissan, redid everything but this time (thinking i got the air out, obviously didnt) i had coolant to start shooting out of my hose (edit: removed the hose, cleaned up and reclamped no longer leaking)

Check your fan clutch- (no fan clutch, using electric ones i have wired into a swtich

test the thermostat (got one from nissan),
make sure you're not running too much coolant (my mixture is probably about 40% coolant 60% distilled),
do you have a fan shroud(no shroud atm, but it hasn't been an issue before)
Is there something blocking flow through the radiator (doesn't seem to be) Have you cleaned the fins (pressurized water from the back of the radiator to blast out bugs and crap) - fins are ok
Is the overflow functioning properly?" overflow is functioning

edit: gonna try and bleed out more air and continue from here

edit:
so after redoing my hose i was able to get all the air out, drove for a quite a while today and had no problem at all. I'm gonna stick to Nissan when it comes to my thermostat, I've tried them from advance auto/autozone, and they both ended up not working for me.

thanks for help guys
