Here's an excellent DIY video detailing how to install headrest monitors.ImStricken wrote:sQash has it right. a rear facing drop down monitor will block your rear view mirror. headrests are the way to go for a clean, simple install.
Dunno man, seems no more involved than the overhead install process.rdub2k4 wrote:The headrest install seems too messy... plus having a 3 year old within arms reach of a monitor isn't such a good idea. He already trashed his portable unit
I've done overhead installs before, so I'm pretty familiar with it. Just was hoping to see pics of one installed in a rogue. The rear view to me is kinda useless anyways cuz how small the rear window is... I rely on my side mirrors.
I'll look at the headrests though. Always an option.
The in and out is what scares me lol. He likes to get in himself.Rogue One wrote: I would expect that your three year old will be restrained in a car seat, so the headrest unit should be out of reach.
Lol, my 3 year old destroyed a $100 portable DVD player, I doubt he'll get an iPad any time soonNick2010 wrote:I heard dealership charges up to 2K for 2 headrests monitor, you can get 2 iPads for half the price for that, you get a bigger screen and you can do much more than just watch the TV.
that's good that you'll be doing the install your self, that will save you a lot of $$$rdub2k4 wrote:Lol, my 3 year old destroyed a $100 portable DVD player, I doubt he'll get an iPad any time soonNick2010 wrote:I heard dealership charges up to 2K for 2 headrests monitor, you can get 2 iPads for half the price for that, you get a bigger screen and you can do much more than just watch the TV.
Plus the monitors are $100-$200 on eBay, I'd be doing all the install work.
I'll look into doing that. Right now I'm converting movies into .divx format and burning them as data on a DVD. Can fit quite a few as the file size is reduced to around 2-300mb. On a 4.7gb disc, that's not too shabby :Pminibus4 wrote:Not sure how techy you are but you could look into using a raspberry pi as a carputer media center. Not sure how well it would drive 2 monitors simultaneously but it would be nice to ditch the dvds and store 100's of movies on one sd card. This gives you the flexibility for different monitor types and placement.
