Transmission fluid should be checked while the car is running and is warm - just thought I'd mention that since it will look fuller if the fluid is in the sump, not swirling around the unit.
I think if it had been running overfilled since 99, the transmission police would have come knocking already. I wouldn't worry if what you drained and what you filled was equal (at the same temp*)
I must also declare that although I consider myself a little handy, I find it hard to read Nissan trans dipsticks and defer to the dealer to monitor the trans temperature with their Consult tool and have the fluid at the correct level.
As mac alluded to in the post above, transmission fluid is very temperature-sensitive.
Since they don't even bother to give us a dipstick anymore,
