I have a '93 auto 240 with 115k on her. The transmission has been acting funny lately when switching in and out of overdrive. Usually, when I want a little more power while shifting lanes, I will switch off the O/D to increase RPMs. But, when switching on the O/D again, someimes the car will rev high and lurch forward, almost as if I was neutral dropping it at 3500 RPM/80MPH. No engine light, no blinking O/D light afterwards.

My buddy tells me its a bad idea to flush the transmission fluid after 100k miles if it has never been done before. Does anyone agree? The transmission fluid level and color is fine. I think I'm just worried about if I will damage anything like this.

I want to put in a 5-speed soon but I can't find a good conversion or the time and $$$ to do it yet. Any help is appreciated.

i would definatly not change the fluid.. I have a 89 240 auto and i changed the fluid at 148k and it helped for a day or two but then od started to slip and shifts became very lazy.

Changing the fluid won't hurt it. However; do not go from a conventional ATF to a Synthetic based ATF.
