Overdrive manual override hack....

I've recently acquired an automatic S13 that locks out 4th gear unless you flip a switch, like an overdrive switch - however, when this switch is flipped, the car is always in 4th gear no matter what. It's not cool. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a quick way to remove this? I want my O/D back
