So i noticed while driving my Z today that the overdrive button off light on my dash was on. When i try to click the overdrive button on the side, it doesn't stay in and the light stays on on the dash. Is there any quick fix for this or anywhere i can get a replacement overdrive button? Im not sure if they still have replacement buttons at Nissan dealerships? I've tried looking around the internet but there just inst much on the subject. Thanks guys!

Are you driving short distances? Does your car do that when it's warmed up, after driving around a while? I ask because if your car doesn't think it's warmed up to operating temperature, it might not allow overdrive... but I don't think that would turn on the OD off light. I'm not sure of this.

Did you spill coffee on your gear selector? Does it seem gummed up? Your car is old. The gear selector and buttons might want to be removed, cleaned up and put back on. Palm sweat and grease, old french fries, a bit of soda or coffee... it's a dirty area in a car. Can you use tweezers to pull your button all the way out of the selector, then push it back in?

Thanks for the welcome! Been following this forum for awhile but just now hopped on! I pulled it all apart, cleaned it, WD-40d it, but still no luck, i found the button assembly at a Nissan dealership for about $16 and it should be hear in a few days, hopefully that new part does the trick!

Ah, sounds good. I hope the new button is the fix. It's good you have it all cleaned up in there either way.

Welcome, and good luck with the shifter button.
If not working still after new button, I'd start to suspect the failure-prone AT and get the OD checked, it may be bad.
Hopefully you also have NOT had a trans power backflush, as this is a near-guarantee of Nissan AT failure in the near future in my experience...
