Does anybody know whether it is safe to overbore a DET block, to +0.5 or +1.0mm? Does it have any surface treatment on the cylinders, that overboring will remove, or is the whole block just bare iron?

I'm asking, because it's a 21 year old block, so both for some peace of mind, and so that I don't have to wait 'till I can get it apart for measurements, I'm contemplating overboring it regardless, and ordering overbore pistons right away.

yes, you can go with either .5mm or 1mm. I went with .5 to leave more meat in the cylinder walls, and if I mess anything up, I can bore the block out again to 1mm if needed.
