I have overbored my piston .040 and shaved my head .020. I was wondering if anyone has done anything similar and what kind of results they had. I was also curious if I could take another .010 off the head and if anyone nows the max.

1st, why would you do something like shave the head and get .040 over pistons if you don't know what the out come would be? -or do you and you are just looking for others experience?

2nd, why are thinking about shaving the head some more?

Not trying to be rude or talk down to you. I have no idea how knowledgable you are on the subject but I can help a little if you need it.

I was rebuilding the motor and in order to get everything straight and true these are the things that needed to be dow. I don't really know exactly how to figure aproximately what compression I will be left with.........I have better than stock cams adjustable timming gear witch I heard that you need to advance a few degrees if you take off .047 from the head, except I am not sure how streetable this is. I also have a msd hooked up to help with the higher compression. I am also thinking of unshrouding the valves a little now that it is overbored .040. Not sure if it is worth the agravation though.

I wouldn't go another .010 just use those adj. cam gears and run 91. keep in mind that the front chain cover will also have to be shaved 0.020. I would also be careful what you do on the head--you can SH*t can a head real quick and actually lose performance by hoggin out the runners. stick with port matching and just concentrate on a clean build.

Its funny you bring up the front cover the first time I took it apart I didn'tshave it and installed the distributer and it chewed the gear right off the end of it. That sucked. As far as the port and polish I have only gasket matched everything and cleaned up all the imperfections. I cheacked out an intake runner calculater and the ka is pretty much at its max bore for the rpms we can go to.
