I just bought a 1990 240sx and will probably put a red top SR20DET engine in next summer untill then I am attempting to learn all I can about them. This "over reving" I have never heard of it before, is it merely taking the engine over its 9k rpm limit or is it something else? Thanks for any help and I hope I didnt post this in the wrong forum.

The SR20 has a 7200-7400 RPM Redline. If you take it too much over that while making any sort of power the rocker arms will blow right off, the sleeves don't respond to well either. If you take it to 9000 RPMs you're going to self-destruct your engine.

Thanks alot, I've only seen pics of a SR tachs and they go to 9 grand so I figured so cutting her off around 7k and your should be fine great. Just didnt want to get one and then find out can never push her because she doesnt like to work hard. Thanks again.

Im hoping that its because of the 115 mph speed limiter and not just what the KA maxes it out at... because when I was doing 110 it felt like it would go quite a bit more.
