Hello every1. my piggy blew up a few weeks ago and I've been haven' day dreams of driven' a Datsun/Nissan truck. Now I dont konw much about them, but I do konw they are sex. So with that set in my mind I dont konw which 1 or style I wanna end up with. -I know I'll tow with it (not 2 offften), every1 needs a truck-short bed & standard cab-I want manual transmission-And I know that a ka24E must be under the hoodNow the hard part,...... 4X4 vs. "stree" truck.... . After looken threw the pix thread, I have come to the point where I like them all LOL. of corse I cant have them all. So fellow auto crazed people lend a hand in this. Pros cons

Ask yourself if you need the 4wd and how often you'll use it, and if that justifies the loss in fuel economy and driving around a heavier truck with less power to weight ratio.

you will be just as happy with a 2wd with the torsions cranked up and some slightly taller tires. My friends gets mistaken for a 4wd all the time and it has a pathy HG46 LSD rear end; still gets 22mpg. peace.

I would use the 4x4 hardly ever, it's just nice to have it... ok I want it lol. Plus I have a CJ as the 4x4. So ok No nissan 4x4.... check.

Is HG46 LSD rear end there just for it's LSD? Or for different gear ratio?

Thax for taken the time and schoolen' me

lsd for drift? if that was all he wanted it for he could of "Wlsd" weld diff. It would of been a cheaper opption.. I know there are may negative to it for DD. I just speaken' from drift point of view ONLY

s13xcrazy: nice rig. I live in a city so the longer the truck the harder it is to park boooo for that. I had an 86' F150 4x4 with a 6' rancho lift on it, boy let me tell you it was tuf parken' that sucker. So shorter would be more likely for me. Plus the short bed will be good enough to fit my tool box when I leave the shop I'm @ now

You won't find the HG46 rear in a 2wd truck unless you get a 2000+ Desert Runner.

2wd trucks will have the smallish H190 axle most commonly with 3.5ish gears and no LSD. Some got the larger C200 with similar gears, also open.

D21 (Hardbody) HG46 axles would be found under 4x4 V6 trucks only, except for the 96-97 4 banger 4x4s where they're also found. The axle thread that's stickied in this forum gives you lots of info on what's out there.

The 4x4 axle is going to be wide on a 2wd HB. Tires will stick out past the fenders. The D22 (frontier) axles are even wider yet.

Incorrect, the v6 2wd pickups started receiving LSD (HG46) in 4/87 and it was mostly in 5 speed pickups. Also, just about 90% of the 4x4 pickups I have seen/worked on have had h233b's out back. They are usually larger than the 9 bolt style pathy HG46, pickups usually got a 13 bolt. I have one friend who has a 90 with a c200 in the rear with an r200 front and a KA24, its an odd duck but it wheels pretty good.

Oh and the LSD is cheap, for 90 bucks and a bolt in affair from the v6 2wd pickups. Make sure you get the frive line too so the driveshaft shop can make them one. peace.
