Tonight took it to a parking lot and did some donuts and s*** and after a couple mins I looked at the gauge and it was a little higher then 3/4 the way up so I pulled over and put my fans on it came down pretty quickly, but I let it sit for a little while. Then I drove around for a while after and had no problems.

Was it just because I was ripping on it without the fans on?

Am I supposed to run coolant in the overflow tank? I did fill it once about halfway or so, but it all just splashed out the vent on the top of it. The rad is full though

When ever you run your car like that you should have your fans on, you should drive with them on at all times just to run it cool, you never want to over heat a SR to much cause the head could worp, you only need to fill the over flow half, it is only for the coolant to expand when the motor warms up

running your engine with a load like that on it will cause your car to heat up real quickly

disagree......it is not neccessary to run your fans every minute you are driving...but yea in a situation like this i would turn on your fans for there is not much air passing through the radiator when sliding in a parking lot

anytime you slide, drift whatever you wanna call it that you do, YOU NEED to run your fans as airflow is directed directly into the radiator, me personally i run my fans 24/7 but id rather not forget to look at the temp gauge when its too late.
