I've been having this overheating issues for a long time now and cannot figure out what it is that i am doing wrong.

At idle, the engine is fine. Once i get the car up to 30 or 40 mph, the temp gauge shoots up, then I have to put on the heater at full blast and keeping my speed at around 35. I've replaced the thermostat, and the radiator seems fine considering we took it from my friends 240 after he did an SR swap. The water pump is the only thing that i have not yet tried.

Any other parts that can lead to this? Help please.

When you changed the radiator out did you bleed the air out of the coolant? This is tricky on a KA, you have to jack up the motor and do X/Y/Z in order to get all the air out.

Did your overheating problem begin when you changed the radiator?

Your radiator COULD be stopped up. What about your fans, have you verified that they are working correctly?

If you dont mind losing heat(lol its almost winter.. Oh well, not overheating>heat IMO) you could take out your thermostat. You would eventually get heat into the cab, however it would take much longer than normal. This would almost certainly stop your overheating issues. It however is a bandaid to a more serious issue.

Well the overheating problem began before that. The radiator was out of my friends 240, and it worked well then. I just took out mines and dropped it in, added coolant and called it good. Now today i was trying to burp the car, but no air bubbles came out. I have an electric fan and its working fine. Hmmm.. I'm wondering if its the water pump. How do you troubleshoot a bad water pump?

Check your radiator cap too, sometimes the springs wear out.

You can pick up a brand new oem replacement WP on ebay for like 60-70. If your car has over 100k miles you should replace it anyway.

OK so I did a radiator flush again, burped it, relaced the cap with one of those with the pressure release, and everything seemed fine, but when I smash on the pedal revving it up to about 5000 or 6000 rpm, the temp gauge starts going up again. If it is indeed the water pump, I will try and replace it. I've heard of overheating issues that was connected with a bad headgasket. No idea on tis type of problem. WOuld it be the headgasket?

Check the coolant sensors that send info to the dash and the ecu , maybe their messed up. My water temp gauge on my dash almost works like a vacuum gauge, when I give it gas it goes down a little, when I let off it comes back up, But i think my thermostat is always a little open, because I took my clutch fan off and it never overheats on me. Also I have a new water pump. Also make sure your overflow tank is allowing excess coolant to escape from your radiator into the over flow, if this is clogged you sealed your system and teps will shoot sky high (i.e. experience)

OMG, I think thats what my cars doing then, BUT in vice versa! When I rev or apply the gas the cars temp goes up, this happens when I'm at a dead stop. The temp will also go up as the car slows down. When I go faster, the car tends to cool down to normal temp. Could this also be my electric fans?My car has dual electric fans, but the question is, is that does it matter if it pushes or pulls?

So I finally got around to changing the pump. At first it ran pretty smooth, operating temperature, but as I smashed on the pedal and tried doing a burn out the temp shot up. I dunno what to do anymore. My friend says it might be the temperature sensor, but I have no clue where that is at. Any help please?

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately its the headgasket, it was blown. There really was no sign of this. No white smoke, no peanut buttery oil, or was there specks of oil in the overflow tank.

Oh well nothing I can do except fix it now. Thats how it is.

make sure when u fill up ur rad w antifreeze that the engine is also runin and ur burpng the lines...have you replaced the lines cause in some cases if the lines are old they can collapse shut when gettin hot...when ur waterpump goes it should start leaking out of the bottom of it...try the clutch fan and the sensor and if that dont work then it also could be ur head gasket..if your head gasket goes then everything seems fine but itll overheat....keep updates on ur car posted
