Alright I had made a previous post and was referred to something I have read many a time trying to figure out what to do to test my car for issues. My ECU reads 55 which is some malfunction somewhere. my boost spikes to 15 psi at WOT in third gear. It obviously runs very lean at that point because I am still running a stock fuel system. I have the butterfly and carbon canister attatched but was never able to figure out what to wire the butterfly control up to so it is sitting unwired. I was thinking about trying to eliminate that but i figured since it came oem with that i would try running with it on there. I have the boost control solenoid on but it doesnt seem to be doing anything because the car runs the same with it connected or not connected. everything on the car is stock it has brand new spark plugs, I tested for boost leaks and ran it up to eight psi and it didnt leak at all held that pressure for a couple minutes before i let the air out. havent visually inspected the turbo yet, it was still too hot from driving it to pull the heat shielding off. hmm trying to think of other details. I have looked through all of the vacuum diagrams and nobody runs the carbon canister so i was thinking about eliminating it. I havent done a compression test yet but if you think it could be low compression i could get a tester hooked up to it and test all of that. plugs looked good when i replaced them so i assumed it wasnt compression. help would be greatly appreciated and if you want any other information i have lots of it.

My guess is that the wastegate actuator isn't hooked up properly or the wastegate flapper is stuck shut. Use an air compressor and hook it up to the wastegate actuator nipple and verify the arm moves at around 8-9 psi.

You are probably hitting a boost fuel cut when it spikes really high, how do you have the wastegate set up? Try running the wastegate off of the fpr vacuum line or something you know is going to be reliable. A code of 55 means your ecu thinks all is well, so its probably something trivial. You should be able to move the wastegate arm by hand, so check that it does. give that stuff a try and if it doesnt improve we will go from there.

alright the wastegate moves fine and it still spikes really bad, I know that thats the reason its running crappy up top but i dont know what would cause it to spike so badly. it doesnt seem to produce boost until it spikes either, it goes from 0 to like 12-15 in a split second then blows it back off. I dont know if maybe there is something wrong with my turbo or what?

Sounds like it could be a wastegate issue. What kind of wastegate is it? Stock or some upgraded deal?

it means ur ca is dying to get more boost thrown into it...up it!!!! haha jkwastegate signal is gay. the nipple on the side of the intake plenum (not the one on the throttle body) near the middle is the best ive seen. try running ONLY the wastegate line to that nipple and see if its a better signal.. otherwise ur wastegate is screwed and should be upgraded?

alright yesterday ca came over and we took off all of the butterfly system that mounts where the cruise used to be and eliminated all of that and ran the hose from the wastegate straight back into the housing. blocked off any extra stuff and it is still doing it. its the stock wastegate and it is kinda loose in there so im guessing that the wastegate actuator thing is bad. ill prolly get an hks one on it like next month when i have some money for it lol. ill be back askin questions again if that doesnt fix it
