After a lot of deliberating, the search was narrowed to a Subaru Legacy. Having finally driven the lady's Legacy and her mothers Impreza, I began to understand why the Subaru is the quintessential New England winter car. Simply put, they rock.
With some help and coaching from Andy, I was able to locate a car with a clean enough Carfax and finally bought one. Its not a highly equipped car- pretty much a base model with a sun roof and spoiler- but this isn't my full time, only vehicle. I still have two toys for the warmer months. Instead, this car will bear the brunt of winter, road salt, and poor driving conditions until I run it into the ground, hopefully, many many years from now. Its a pretty simple 2.5i with three pedals.
On with the pics!

Out with the old

In with the new

Shazzam.
I finally got to drive it in ~1 inch of snow today. I am starting to understand why these cars are sought after. They're a BLAST! After work I drove to an empty church parking lot and let it rip. AWD drifting (in the snow) is a helluva awesome feeling. I haven't been able to drive it on completely dry pavement yet to see how it handles, but with as far as I have pushed it so far, its been nothing short of pretty impressive. I'm looking forwards to getting to know it better and figuring out what that Subaru = love tag line is all about.
Pour one out on the curb for the 'rolla. It'll have a new owner next week.
