Out of Pocket Cost for Maintaining EX35 the first few thousand miles?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Again, newbie question ... how much does it cost to do the mileage interval maintenance. How much does your Infiniti dealer charge you for the few thousand miles? Thanks

If you follow Nissan's standard service interval as specified in the owner's service guide, don't get suckered into buying dealer service packs, it costs no more than any other car. If you feel you have to change the oil 2-3x more than necessary and you can't say no to the service pack salesman you can spend a bundle.

Oil & Filter plus all of the usual "checks", plus a car wash, etc. is $39.95 at Infiniti of Superstition Springs in AZ. That's the same or LESS than the local JiffyLube, plus I get a "real" mechanic using all the correct Infiniti parts.

This is recommended every 3,750 miles

As for the 15K and 30K services, I would HIGHLY recommend that you read up on what's required at these intervals and purchase these services ala carte. Here's why: Dealer "I" charges $399 for the !5,000 service. When you read the manual, that's the oil and filter, plus the engine air filter and possibly the cabin filter (AC filtration - behind the glovebox). And then there's all of the checks and inspections - wiper fluid bulbs, muffler bearings, etc.

What I ask for is the Oil/filter change ($40) and the cabin filter change ($99 installed - because I hate pulling apart the interior) and then I spend $45 for the 2 engine air filters (the EX has 2, my M45 has one) and take 5 minutes to install them myself. Total cost for this is $190, saving me $200... and guess what? They still inspect everything because they would love nothing more that to sell you wiper blades or a brake job.

And wait until you see what the dealers charge for the 60K service; then price it out ala carte and you might save over $400 that way. Hope this helps you out.

I had a maintenance plan included in my deal for the first 35,000 miles. I took the 5,000 mile interval, just because I don't like going in so often.

I think all they did was change the oil, filter and rotate my tires. I don't think they did anything else.
