I'm curious. Has anyone ever pulled off a VG30DETT swap in a Z33? If you're going to flame me and say : "WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!", then let me inform you of something. The VG30DETT is more durable and able to handle more power than the VQ35DE because it was over-engineered to support further boost. It's easy to get 400 to 450 horsepower in a Z32 with minimal work, and we all know it. With that said, has anyone ever done this?

if an over engineered block is al your after why not swap in an L24? they had 7 main bearings! or maybe the single cam vg30e which had 13 headbolts per head! both of which in turbo applications have potential to excede 400 whp, for the PITA of swapping the vg in you could build a better vq, and you have over 15% more displacement

yes the vg has better rods, pistons and block, but the aftermarket has already provided extreme duty pieces with numersous vq's putting down over 1000 whp! and when you figure the time energy and money saved on adapting everything to fit the vg it's a winner, and the vq is a heck of a lot easier to work on so you spend less time wrenching and more time driving

Well, the VQ would be more reasonable if it really was a PITA to do the VG swap. I'm not all too familiar with how it's done, or if it's ever been done. So, if there's a ridiculous amount of work involved, then I'd be better off building the VQ. All I'm saying is that the VG is a power-friendly motor. Just add boost! Same deal with the RB26 and 2JZ motors, albeit slightly less crazy. Anyways, I was only curious.

l28et is a power friendly motor just add boost

I've done radical swaps and unless you happen upon some special deal or have the time, tallent and energy to put into a swap it usually just isn't worth it, and in the grand scheme of things, the higher the displacment the easier it is to make power, this is why you don't see to many drag cars running rb20's

and the vq is still in produstion with an ever growing aftermarket, the vg's marketshare is rapidly declining

bottom line if you really want a vg, it's a heck of a lot easier to just buy a Z32TT
