hi i have a 2010 versa sedan 1.6 4spd this is my second versa. the '08 i had never had a hitch. 160km in 36 months.
this one has had 4 cases of sudden acceleration in the 2 months. the dealer cant find any engine codes wrong and we have tried to recreate it but no luck. always has happened when i shift from park to drive BEFORE i touch the gas. it revs to 4-5k, i have to go to neutral to park and turn it off to reset. any ideas. happened again last friday nite going to the dealer again this thursday............

+1 rep for knowing how to shift an automatic into neutral. It's a little known fact these days :)

I'm guessing electronic throttle? Remember when we had these old fashion cable thingies that attached the driver to the throttle plate?

Why is it when you remove the cable to the throttle body and replace it with a bunch of electrical stuff, it's called "drive by wire". Shouldn't having a cable hooked up be "drive by wire"?

stupid electrical crap.. nothing wrong with a freakin cord and a buttherfly. Its just more expensive, pain in the a$$ diagnosis, and deadly things to go wrong.

It should not be reffered to as "Sudden Acceleration" that is what we all dream of. Hell some of us spend thousands of dallars on our cars to achieve sudden acceleration. I hate seeing that term being thrown around.

What you are experiencing is "Unintended Acceleration" because I am sure that a versa doesn't suddenly accelerate with a 1.6L motor.

In the future please correct someone when they say "Sudden Acceleration", "Irregardless", or "It's a mute point" as they are all wrong.

Finally a writer put my thoughts into words in this weeks issue of AW, so all credit goes to him for coining "Unintended Acceleration".

{what happend to the spell check option}

Stop letting them tag you along, slap them in the head and tell them to give you a new Throttle body.

Did you know almost every drive by wire has had problems with it since i believe 98?
First car I have seen them on is Isuzu bighorns (not sure if you guys got those),
with v6 Engines. Back then they had idle problems, and even had the sporadic revving.

You would think 12 years later they would've have perfected it? .......NOPE!!

Mechanical throttles use cables.
Electronic throttles use wires.

"[something] by wire" is an old aircraft term. Which also distinguished electronic wires from mechanical cables.

Agreed. Tell the dealer to try replacing either the throttlebody module itself or the pedal sending unit. One of them is probably to blame.
