So, the story is that my dad's co-worker does car detailing, and my dad decided that our 1994 Q45t should be treated to some detailing. So last Friday my dad gave him the Q and he went to work!So here are the before pictures! (Warning : Our Q45 was very dirty so please don't hurt me)

Side body shot, if you can't see through those dirty windows, the Q has a black interior.Man look at all that brake dust, and dullness.Covering vital things so they don't get damaged during a wash.

Now the After pictures! As you can see, he only did one part of the spoiler so you could see the difference, a very very big difference, the whole car shines like a mirror now. As you'll see in the next picture.I can see the sky!!No more brake dust, no more dullness, looks brand new. Jealous? We even have all 4 caps on the wheels. Now the cleaned engine bay.Another shot of the trunk. Shines like a mirror.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post his contact, might count as advertising, but if you're interested in detailing the person that did the detailing job lives around Irvine, so if live around there and you're interested you can email me, and I'll give you his email address.

nice! especially good detail on the bbs---and i KNOW how big a pain those are to keep clean.congrats on a good 15" tire selection. 225/60 is preferred fitment, but the exaltos should serve well.

change your brake fluid.

About how mine looks year round, except I have rust bubbles on both rear fenderwells.

Get a Porter Cable 7424 and good polishes/sealants/waxes and it is easy to maintain a swirl/surface scratch free finish with a quarterly effort-best investment I ever made in keeping the paint in tiptop condition

Excellent job on the ride. Did they do light wet sanding? It looks to me they did. I did a 4 stage detailing on my E320 Opal Black. It included wet sanding. I did a write up on it. So far what I did with my Q45t is Clay Bar, 2 stage Wax, and 2 Stage Polishing. I would still only call it a 3 stage detailing considering I didn't wet sand her. Nice job.

No wet sanding if I remember correctly. He claybarred and he used a sonic meter to see how deep the paint was, and how much paint he had left to play with. Then he polished down as much paint as he could to remove the swirls and then waxed it.

The car feels so nice and smooth when you run your hand on the hood.

Our Q45 sees the freeway daily so the front bumper had alot of paint chips from rocks, he filled those in too. He even cleaned up the interior . First time I drove it, my butt was sliding around the seat when I made a turn.

Thats a great job for not wet sanding. I'm confused as to why he would use the meter for only polishing. Polishing shouldn't take anything away not even clear coat, unless he used an abrasive hard polish compound. Even then you shouldn't need the meter. To my knowledge the meter is to find out how much clear coat your working with when you go to wet sand a car. It sure looks like he wet sanded it, but I'm still learning the intricate aspects of detailing.

In any event they did an awesome job. I promise when I have time I will take picks of my ride.

Here is a link to a write up I did on wet sanding. Notice that my hood looks much like your trunk spoiler after sanding. I didn't need to wet sand the Q45, just an aggressive clay baring, waxing and polishing.

I'm not 100% sure on what he does during the paint detailing, but basically he uses a rotary and some foam pads of some sort with an abrasive polish, and he goes over the paint, and it slightly removes the clearcoat and taking away the scratches away with it. He probably measures how deep the paint is, so he makes sure while he is doing this, he does not completely remove the clearcoat, and so there aren't any surprises while he is doing his job.

These pro guys are really delicate with paint, so they probably won't take sandpaper to a car, they even use equipment to spray down the car with grease and dirt removing foam, and then they wash it all down with water that goes through a filtration system, which also deionizes the water. Then they use a very very bright light, used to examine even the smallest scratches on the paint, and they continue until it's flawless, or until they believe they don't have much clearcoat left.

Sounds good. I have to look into this method. Thanks for adding some details to it. All in all they did a fantastic job.
