Well yeah, when you have fans who treat their teams like a deity, sport does become a religion when you can recite the Bible of your team, aka the Stat Book.

Oh, and I just wanted to say that this is my most visited site and the site that I spend way too many hours on for my own good. I like it.

What?! You shouldnt have to defend yourself for having views and opinions in a political forum!?! Thats the whole idea behind the forum dude.. If you want to spout off at the mouth and not be attacked and question your in the wrong place.

I mean yea people shouldnt be calling names and stuff but i havnt really seen much of that..

The whole idea of civilized is very indescriptive to most people. From what i have seen this forum is pretty civilized IMO. You just cant expect someone to come out of the woodwork and create ridiculous statements that have no backbone and not get hung out to dry. Or at least grilled on their thought process behind their statements.

As far as this whole issue.. Fairness doctrine lol. The forum mods def lean to the right but theres still a balance here. Hash does a good job from the little of him i have seen.
I guess that came out the wrong way, i agree with you, if you say something you should have the knowledge and info to back up what you say in a civilized manner. I guess what i'm trying to say is, you should be able to voice your opinion and not be completely killed for having said opinion, yes you can question and give your own opinion and then discuss but more often than not what happens is it just starts getting dirty, it always does, just like the elections...they always start off positive and then just divebomb into negativity.

...i guess it just came out in a different way, my bad

I understood what you were getting at.

There's a few little snippets I try to adhere to, and I think I've typed a few of them here before:

"Say what you mean, and mean what you say."

"Real men rarely need to apologize."

"Words MEAN things."

While they're not always absolute, I have always liked the rationale behind them...

They're not hard to figure out, and there's certainly some explanation that goes with them, but if you think about it long enough, it's pretty clear.

You are doing fine.

It's nice to somewhat argue a point with someone and not have attitude floppin all over the place.

Hash has proven the point over and over that the majority of us are close on most issues and the major differences are nit-picks.

Not once have I heard him whine about a "hostile environment".

Not once have I read something from him and said, "WTF is he thinking?"

Not once have I observed a partisan slant to his rebuttals.

Hashy's definitely encouraged me to step up my game. He's a damn smart cookie, and exactly what we needed in a Moderator.

Like I said to Matt the other night, I'd vote for a Hash/Jesda ticket. Then we decided Hash would have to be the VP or Jesda wouldn't go along. So it became a Jesda/Hash FTW scenario.

I'd support that ticket

Oh, there's no way that I'm running at the bottom end of a Gulati ticket.

You can elect us both in place, like consuls in Rome. Then, once elected, we shall fight to the death in the arena, armed only with 1 large trout each, for who will become the ultimate ruler.

THUNDERDOME!!!!

I can see that ending badly.

Seriously, you're gonna knock off a guy with a mouth stuffed full of curry trout?

You're a jerk.

Doesn't the World Series always start at the time it did this year? Didn't McCain push back the start of the NFL season?

No way, Jesda would not run with one of us "pseudo-Libertarians". We're just interested in Libertarianism because it's the latest buzzword, ya know?

It was more of a joke in regards to the half-hour obamathon thing he had going that delayed the start of game 5 (or what would have been game six without the delay).
